Sixteen--How Can That Be?

Friends and family cautioned me when the boys were young to savor each moment as time passes in the blink of an eye.  So true, how can it be that my little boy turned 16 years old today?  He counted down the days until his 15 1/2 birthday, when he received his temps.  And, again, has been counting down the days until today finally arrived.  Trey took today off and he and Alexander traveled an hour North to Marion, Ohio, for Alexander to complete his driving test and return home with his license.  Alexander wasn't nervous one bit this morning.  Me, well, I didn't sleep last night in anticipation for today's events.

Alexander knicked the cone heading into manueverability, but regained his composure and passed his driving test thus becoming a licensed Ohio driver!!

As a Mom, it's strange watching your son pull away from the house with one of his friend's driving a car; but, surprisingly, it's even more unsettling watching your son pull away driving, alone, for the first time.  I have mixed emotions of happiness, pride and anxiety knowing that my son has his license.  And, as I've done his whole life, I'm savoring the milestones and treasuring the time we have together before he leaves for college in a couple years.  Alexander, I'm truly proud of you and am confident in your abilities--just hard to "let go".
