"The Hobbit"

Noah and the drama club members have been working very hard to prepare for their version of "The Hobbit".  After 2 1/2 months of Monday through Thursday rehearsals, 3 evenings of set building and two 3 hour dress rehearsals, the performance FINALLY arrived!

Each cast member wore their "The Hobbit" TShirts on the day of the first performance

The Martins with our star performer

Noah, you came to me the night before try-outs and completely out of the blue, asked if we would mind if you tried out for "The Hobbit".  Dad and I were thrilled--"The Hobbit" is one of your favorite books and you wanted to be a part of the performance.  The next day (Monday), you were nervous and came home rather than trying-out.  After you were home, we returned to Genoa, spoke with Miss Young and picked up the script.  You practiced that evening, tried out the next day (Tuesday) and had to wait a LONG 3 days before knowing if you would be a part of the cast.  I remember being nervous for you--confident that you would have a part, but not sure if it would be what you expected.  You came home from school that Friday beaming--not only were you in the play, but you earned one of the parts you wanted!

Noah, you played Balin with all of your heart; changing your voice and truly becoming your character.  We are SO proud of you for having the courage to try something new.  Clearly, you have a gift for being on stage and I'm amazed that you weren't a bit nervous during the performances.  The play was incredible--you never once complained about the many rehearsals and you even helped a couple evenings, after a 1.5 hour rehearsal, with set-building for an additional 2 hours.  You made some wonderful friendships during the play and I hope you'll continue to perform next year.  Well done, Noah!
